The Value Of Vintage Engagement Rings And Where To Find Them

Monday 17 March 2008 @ 3:36 am

The concept of giving an engagement ring has been around for a long time. When buying a vintage one, it may end up costing more or less than a new engagement ring, depending on how much of an antique value it has, among various other factors. However, the true value of a vintage engagement ring is it’s emotional value, and what it says about the time and energy that has gone into finding a ring that is just right, and suits the personality, style, and taste of the bride - and most likely will therefore be cherished for a lifetime. In addition it can become an heirloom, which gets passed down in the family.

Perhaps for these reasons, vintage engagement rings have become quite popular, and as the various styles can cover a large time period, the choices are that much greater, and the possibility of finding just the right ring is also greater.

The exact meaning of what a vintage engagement ring is can also vary. It could be a new ring which has been designed to look and feel like a much older style, or it might be a real antique ring, or perhaps a special ring which has been handed down in the family from generation to generation. Also, the word ‘vintage’ itself, which suggests “excellence” and “enduring value”, can add the the perceived and emotional value of such an engagement ring.

So where do you go to find a vintage engagement ring? There are actually various places to try - the most obvious perhaps being in a jewelry shop, or a specialty jewelry shop that deals with vintage and antique jewelry. But there are also other places to look - such as antique markets, Online Jewelry Stores that sell antique style engagement rings , or perhaps included in an estate sale.

And, of course, as with any other valuable jewelry, the true monetary value and authenticity of the ring should be checked before actually making a purchase.

Choosing Web Site Hosting Company

Monday 17 March 2008 @ 2:53 am

With thousands of web hosting companies in the market it can be difficult if not impossible to know which web site hosting companies truly provide an excellent hosting solution at an excellent price.
When you have an established domain name with a good web hosting company, you can get reports on your traffic and which of your pages your customers are visiting most often, as well as many other statistics.
Your web host will charge you a fee for monthly service that ranges from $10 or $20 to the more expensive $50 per month.
Plan to pay between $300 and $500 per year to your web host.
Always avoid free or very inexpensive web hosting services, because you may experience bouts of server downtimes and you are likely to have significant limitations in storage, number of email addresses, FTP upload etc.
Be sure your web host can accommodate e-commerce and storefronts, wireless capability, bogs, forums, chats, online interactive helps and anything else you want to add onto your site.
Estimate what your growth needs are and ensure that this web host can serve you as you grow.
The last thing you want to do is change host mid way unless you absolutely have to do so.
Check your bandwidth capability to be sure that, if your web site traffic grows rapidly, your customers will not have to wait to download or view information.
Three things to look for in a web hosting company are:

1. Excellent Customer Support - Your hosting provider should be there for you 24/7 and give you instant access to the technicians you need to solve your problem.
Ask them how long it takes for them to typically respond to your problem.
A good test is to call them in the mid night to check if you get to a live, level 3 support.

2. A Sound Infrastructure - Check whether they offer a multi-homed network powered by multiple bandwidth providers to ensure redundancy.
Some offer a 100% guarantee on its network availability or network uptime.

3. Financial Stability - If you re running very critical operations, you can t afford to be with a hosting company that may not be in business in a few months.

Linux Hosting

Monday 17 March 2008 @ 2:19 am

There is allways one issue when it comes to Linux hosting.
New Linux users often have difficulty learning how to use Linux commands to administer the Linux OS (operating system) and to be able to make use of Linux hosting.
This is because most Linux training materials are poorly written by Linux techies that don’t know how to write in plain English for people new to Linux.
So, what confuse people who want to use Linux hosting ?
There are over 130 Linux distributions (versions) and they can be administered (managed) by Linux Graphical User Interface (GUI) utilities - or by using Linux commands.
Linux GUI utilities give you a “point-and-click” interface for doing Linux administration tasks, like working with the Linux file system (to make directories and copy files), and to create Linux users.
However, they are slow and awkward to use - and even worse, they are different from one Linux distribution to another!
On the flip side, Linux commands are virtually identical from one Linux distribution to another.
So, when you learn a Linux command in one Linux distro, that same command will work in all 130+ Linux distros.
However, new Linux users often have difficulty learning how to use Linux commands to administer the Linux OS (operating system).

Here are some tips that will help you if you decide to go for Linux Hosting:

Tip: When you get Linux training, don’t spend time learning Linux GUI utilities - learn how to use Linux commands, even though they are a bit harder to learn than GUI utilities.
Linux Command NamesLinux command names are often an abbreviation of what the command does.
For example, the rm command stands for remove.
Linux command names and command options are “case sensitive”.
Lower case letters need to be typed in lower case and vice versa.
You must type in a Linux command and the options of the command, exactly as shown.

Tip: Be sure to put a space between the Linux command name, its options, and what the Linux command is being run “on”, such as the name of a file.
Linux Command Name Examples
Here are some Linux command examples.
The task is described and then the Linux command name is shown. make (create) a directory - the Linux command is md create new Linux users - the useradd command is used for this search the Linux file system for information - the Linux command is grep see the “type” of a Linux file - the file command displays this information see the names of new Linux users, currently working on the system - the Linux command is users find Linux directories and files in the Linux file system - the command for this is called findLinux video tutorials are an easy and fast way to get Linux training and actually “see” how to use Linux commands.
When you watch a Linux video tutorial, you get to see, hear and do!
You see and hear how to run a Linux command and you can even pause the presentation so you can run the Linux command yourself!

Tips On Spanish Mastiff Dog Secrets

Sunday 16 March 2008 @ 3:20 am

If you are a dog fan like myself then you will find the mastiff dog to be a very interesting animal. This article will focus on the Spanish mastiff (i.e. Mastin de Espanol). The Spanish mastiff dog has an active parent club in the States which is working to have the breed recognized by the Foundation Stud Service.

Breed membership in this organization has several requirements. The Spanish Mastiff doesn’t meet all of these requirements yet. There are a lot of dog fans who are doing what is necessay to get it’s acceptance official.

Mastiff Dog Origins

Spain is the recognized birthlace of this mastiff breed. It is often used as a cattle and sheep guard dog in some parts of Spain. Gentle mannered with children the Spanish mastiff is known for an even temper. They will absolutely not tolerate uninvited guests and tend to be aggressive with other dogs. Normally the mastiff dog is kept outside. If this is not the case then it should be taken for daily walks and given access to a large fenced in area to roam.

Identified as being large dogs is this particular mastiff breed. They have long legs, tend to be longer then they are tall and have deep chests. The expected mastiff dewlap is present along a large head and deep muzzle.

A dewlap is? The fold or folds of skin that drapes over the top of the chest and is loosely hanging beneath the chin. Being a predator deterrent is it’s main function. It effectively protects this most vulnerable part of the body from a predator sinking their teeth into. The coat can be very dense on this mastiff dog. The color of the coat can be anything from white and black, wolf gray, fawn and lemon. Protecting the mastiff dog from extreme weather is it’s main purpose.

In Summary

having read this article fully you will have gained several new facts about the Spanish mastiff. Most tend to be large and heavy were you aware of this? In fact some of them can stand well over 2 1/2 feet tall atthe shoulder and weigh in excess of 140 pounds. With all of the interesting facts about the Spanish mastiff we are sure it will become your favorite mastiff dog.

Rainbow Vacuum, Is It The Best?

Friday 14 March 2008 @ 2:56 am

Many home owners today are worried about whether or not they are doing the very best possible job of vacuuming their carpet. We all want a clean house and the average person is willing to spend money to achieve that goal. Let’s say that you are a Rainbow vacuum cleaner salesman and your marketing director back at the office has set you up an appointment with Jack and Sally Richards tonight at seven o’clock. They are willing to watch the Rainbow demonstration because a friend of theirs had given the Rainbow vacuum man their name as a referral. If they are able to help him give four demonstrations to their friends and relatives they will receive a free gift. This gift might very well be a three day two night vacation or an accessory or part for the Rainbow machine.

An individual that finds themselves in the market for a vacuum sweeper must do a little research before making a decision. There are only a gazillion makes, brands and models to choose from and choosing the right one is never easy. If the salesman mentioned above shows up on time for his appointment with Jack and Sally he will probably find that they have already gone through several vacuum cleaners since they were married. I found that if a couple owned a Kirby, Electroux, and maybe a Thermax, they would probably buy a Rainbow too.

If the above individual who is looking for a new sweeper narrows the search down and only looks at cleaning machines that use water instead of a bag they will probably make the right decision. Why, because dust and dirt, when it is wet, cannot be blown out of the exhaust of the vacuum cleaner and fly back into the air. You see, most vacuums use a paper bag, which blows very small dust particles back into the air through the tiny holes in the bag. If the bag didn’t have holes in it there would be an explosion and dust would fly every where. I’ve actually seen this happen. As a matter of fact, one exploded right in my face one time and I was covered in dust and all kinds of nasty stuff that you normally find in a vacuum cleaner bag. No matter what brand you choose, Kirby, Hoover, Eureka, or even Electrolux, if it uses a paper bag it will blow dust.

So, to be safe, do a little looking around before you buy and check out those water based vacuum cleaners that use water as a filter and you’ll be much happier with your indoor environment.

Interests : Rose Gardening & Body Piercing

Friday 14 March 2008 @ 2:26 am

Some tools for rose gardening are; 1) Leather gardening gloves will not only
protect you, but also let you enjoy rose gardening. 2) You should also consider
the locking device on the shears, especially if you have young children. 3) It
is a good idea to buy both a large rake and a smaller one for getting into
those tighter places. 4) Purchasing a simple wheelbarrow is an important part
of gardening. 5) It is important to shop carefully and to choose a kneeling pad
that works for you when growing roses.

More and money year in and year out is being spent on body jewelry and related
items. The use of body jewelry and its ongoing fascination can not just be tied
down to one section of the population, people from all different backgrounds,
races and creeds can be seen to be making use of body piercing to adorn
themselves in order to satisfy some of the feeling within us which needs to be
paid attention to. If you have not yet discovered the fascination with piercing
one’s body - maybe you will be converted in the future !

Home Theater Systems - The Basic Components

Wednesday 12 March 2008 @ 1:50 am

Watching movies in your own home theater system ( or home cinema systems as they are called in some countries ) can give a very lifelike experience, similar to that experienced in a real movie theater. And just as in a real theater, the right movie, along with the right setup, and the right equipment, can take you away from everyday life for a while, and transport you to another realm.

So what are the basic components which make up a home theater system?

First there is the player - This is normally a DVD player, and if you’re going to set up a serious system, you should consider having a DVD player that can play both HD and Blu-Ray discs.

Then there is the display. Although you could get a very large LCD or Plasma flat screen, you could also opt for a projector system, which can give you a very large theater-size screen, using a TV which has a relatively small size. If you are not going to use a projector, then you should consider an HDTV (Hi Definition TV), which gives a better image quality.

Finally, there is the speaker and sound system. Having great surround sound like in a real theater, really brings a home theater system to life. Home Theater Speaker Systems come in a great variety of prices and components, but the main ones which you should aim to have here are - a center channel speaker, a sub-woofer, and a pair of front and surround speakers.

You want to arrange it so that you have sound coming from all corners of your home theater room, in order to intensify the reality of the experience.

Of course, you will need to consider possible home theater accessories. For example, should you invest in comfortable home theater seats - will you get seats with arm-rests, padding, and high backs?. You will probably also want a dimmer control for the lights. Dark, heavy curtains that don’t let the light through are also a good accessory, because you might want to watch during the day.

And last but not least - consider soundproofing the walls of your home theater room so that you don’t get complaints from the neighbors when you have the sound system turned up to theater levels.

Online Discount Electronic Stores are a great place to find a good selection of Home Theatre Systems as well as other fine Consumer Electronics items.

Termite Control Systems & Property Investing

Monday 10 March 2008 @ 3:18 am

termite control systems are advantageous because chemical treatments only
address parts of the termite colonies. If you ignore some of the termites
you will risk the continuation of termite damage and infestation, so it is
best to eliminate them entirely once you know what do termites look like
and have peace of mind that you won
